The 7th art takes pride of place in our city and is very popular with the people of Aix.
From art films to blockbusters, intimate screenings to cinemas equipped with the latest technology, national previews and film festivals, you’re bound to find a film to watch whatever the weather!
Some city parks screen films in the summer and become the place to be for movie-lovers.
Aix-en-Provence and the Aix Region are regularly used as film settings and have been for some time.
To mention just a few: “La Sirène du Mississippi” by Truffaut where you’ll see Jean-Paul Belmondo and Catherine Deneuve on the Cours Mirabeau in the 70s, “La Sainte Victoire” by François Favrat where our mountain provides the backdrop to this political thriller and more recently “Comme des frères” by Hugo Gélin and “Fiston” by Pascal Bourdiaux, both comedies.
More recently, "Cezanne et moi" by Danièle Thompson depicting the friendship between Cézanne (Guillaume Galienne) and Zola (Guillaume Canet) and "Polina, danser sa vie" by Angelin Preljocaj and Valérie Müller about a dancer's life.
