Les Apiculteurs en Provence in a few words :

3200 Provencal beekeepers running almost 148,000 hives in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, one of the leading regions in France with the largest number of professional beekeepers (280). Provence is estimated to produce around 2000 tons of honey a year, 8% of the national production. The biggest honey production in Provence is lavender honey which accounts for over half of total production in a normal year. Beekeepers are passionate ambassadors who sell 60% of their honey direct. Provence's buzzing beekeeping sector is fuelled mainly by the SAPP (Union of Professional Beekeepers in Provence), ADAPI (Association for the Development of Provencal Beekeeping) and SYMPAS (Union of Provence and Southern Alps Honey).
