Les Allées (previously none as Les Allées Provençales) date from April 2007, making them both the newest district of the city and an extension of the historic centre.

The Rotonde and Méjanes car parks, situated at the bottom of Cours Mirabeau, offer 2,300 parking spaces for easy access to Les Allées and the city centre.

Grand Théâtre de Provence, designed by the architect Vittorio Gregotti, is a strong architectural statement in the heart of this new urban centre, which has become the new hub of the city. In this modern architectural complex is also the Pavillon Noir (Black Pavilion), the choreographic centre of the Preljocaj Ballet, the Cité du Livre with the Méjanes library, the St John Perse Foundation, the videotheque of Lyric Art, the future new school of music, and Aix en Provence Tourist Office.
