Hôtel Maurel de Pontèves dit d'Espagnet

It was built between 1647 and 1650 for a rich merchant, Pierre Maurel, who had just been ennobled by a position as secretary to the Court of Accounts of Provence.
This mansion was built between 1647 and 1651 by Jean Lombard and then Pierre Pavillon for Pierre Maurel, a rich cloth merchant who rose to the highest echelons of society and made alliances with the foremost families of Provence.

His mansion was one of the first to be built in the Mazarin district.

The Hôtel Maurel de Pontevès marks the transition from Mannerism to Baroque.

The picturesque decor of its eye-catching frontage is of Michelangelesque inspiration. Two remarkable atlantes support a balcony
