City hall of Rousset

The village of Rousset nestles at the foot of the Barre du Cengle and Mont Sainte-Victoire, along the Arc River.
A Provençal village, Rousset retains the remains of its Roman rampart at the top of the Château hill (currently Place Lionel Hart). The town also has traces of the medieval occupation of its territory with an 11th century chapel (the Saint-Privat chapel) and a dovecote, a vestige of the castrum from the 11th to the 14th centuries, in the very center of the village. An 18th century dry stone mill evokes the Provençal landscapes of Pagnol. Finally, the Calvary church and chapel (private property) date from the 19th century.

Tourists will happily stroll through its narrow, steep streets (Rue du Four, Montée du Château), they will be able to have a drink in the shade of the plane trees, do their shopping in the shops in the heart of the village, attend Provençal ball games on a shaded field illustrated with beautiful frescoes, stock up on local products on the Wednesday morning market or participate with the Roussetains in the various summer events, in the village hall or, more often in summer, under the plane trees of Place Paul Borde: open-air concerts or Saint-Privat Day festivities which, for five days at the end of August, bring the village into jubilation around a funfair, concerts and balls every evening, Sunday aioli and the traditional quadrille.
