Ambiance de Noel dans les rues d'Aix-en-Provence

Château de Bouc Bel Air

The castle of Bouc Bel Air was built in the 8th century to resist the Saracen invasions, on a rock at 279 m.
The castle is mentioned as early as 997 in an act and in many charters of the cartouche of the St Victor Abbey. It was an important fortified post between Aix and Marseilles which collected a toll fee, reported in 1420 in the archives. The medieval character so clearly preserved in the castle is found in the old village huddled in the shade of the fortress. The narrow and winding streets on the side of the rock are lined with irregular houses, not aligned with the roofs uncoupled, the second floor low. They have picturesque names: the Barri, the Pie, the Virgin ... The castle is now owned by the municipality and many events are organized in its beautiful vaulted rooms.
